This is indeed, on the surface an admirable attempt to do what has been said all along.  It has also been pointed out that of course there are those who cheat who will be more than happy to stand along side you as part of an anti cheat campaign!  Its not like they are all about to stop because if it.  The idea is quite simple:

1. If you have definate proof that someone is using a cheat - either an aimbot or .ini file changes ( and there are long and complicated ways of doing this so it defies me why someone would spend so much time "tweeking" files just to gain an advantage in such a game as this - Greaver, myself and others have debated this at great lengths) then SEND THIS PROOF to an ADMIN.  If you have clear information that shows someone is altering files either by statement from another website or from an ingame comment to another player - tell the ADMINS.  Some people are dumb enough to think that no one will do anything and that they can act with impunity.

2. If you suspect someone of cheating and it appears obvious to others that this person is cheating then - DONT engage with them or play with them.  Its realy that simple.  People who deliberately lag, change files etc etc.  I will kick anyone off who states - "Im Lagging - Im down loading stuff but so what.." ( or words to that effect)  I had this off of two SEF players who are no longer here thank goodness.

Cut them off - whats the point of being on a combat game when no one will engage with you?  There are many here who know full well what they have done and how they have done it.  Some of their "best friends" have warned me that they are "tweekers" - getting the direct proof is very difficult because these cheating b@rstewards are not entirely stupid.  You can spot them a mile off most of the time as the naked eye has a tendency not to lie.  If the disparity is not caused by lag and you know YOU havent changed anything and you have Conquerors and Anubis Mk2s clearly out turning Vipers and WA1's on a sixpence then there is a problem - proving it is an altogether different case.

This is an old problem. FLAC will catch the worst offenders. Those that tamper with engines tend to find themselves going "boom" a lot - over frequent occurence of this ( and I KNOW that lag can cause this) will draw unwanted attention from ADMIN and VOID staff - now you might not be doing anything wrong and you can shout your innocence from the roof tops - but FLAC is not ALWAYS wrong.

I applaud the sentiment in which this is being done.  As to exactly what the "strike" intends to achieve I am not realy sure other than it being similar to the "Fair Play" system used in soccer.  Team sign up to it but fouls still happen.  If its a declaration of solidarity against cheating then so be it.  The simplest way to rid yourself of cheaters is to "black list" them - Dont Play With Them.  If challenged as to why you wont play with them - PM them listing your reasons - keep it short and sweet.  I dont want to see accusations of it appearing on screen shots - I WILL BAN anyone doing so - its harrasment. Dont shout about it - just move on and like the kid always last picked for the soccer game - they will go play somewhere else.

I applaud your efforts, and it's nice to see people getting together to condem cheaters, but to be honest I fail to see what it will acheive. I suppose if it persuades a couple of cheaters to mend their ways it will have been worth it, but if you look at the mentallity of a cheater I seriously doubt that will happen.

Just remember, just because you don't see a staff member online, doesn't mean that there isn't one, our most effective tool is the use of hidden characters, cus as soon as the [VOID} or [ADMIN} tag appears on screen, or in system, then the felons will try to moderate their behavior, and turn down / off their cheats until they see the coast is clear. Cheaters are &*%$£$&, but they are not stupid.

As for the EXE version of the Void, if you look back to when that was introduced, we had so many complaints from people unable to instal it, or unable to easily swap to other modded servers, that we had to abandon it. Hmmm wonder how many of those were cheaters?

Maybe a better campaign to get behind would be a ZERO TOLERANCE FROM VOIDS AND ADMINS, which means if we think you are cheating we ban you and its up to you to prove that you weren't. If you get stroppy about it or insulting you stay banned. Down side of this we'd ban half the server, and be abused and slagged of accross the entire internet, as we have benn already on many an occassion for just tying to do the right things to make the server playeble to everyone.

1 last thing to the cheats out there no matter what the game "THE ONLY PERSON YOU ARE CHEATING IS YOURSELF"

In all the years I played this game, or any other game I never called "cheater" to another player.
That doestn mean I didnt see players that problaby they were cheating.
But what were my options?.
I could send a pm to an Admin, but what for?, they could not do anything because they were not there.
I could tell player that stop cheating, but what for?, a cheater doesnt have ethic, so he problaby didnt care about.
I could stop fighting him. ignore him, and that is exactly what I did, and I can tell you it is working. Ignoring cheaters or those players that I suspect they are cheating make my game more funny. It is a small sacrifice with big profits
I know that Strail said many times that we have to tell Admin, he posted many times, but I disagree because I would never acuse other ppl if I I am not 100% sure, and that is impossible.

its not impossible. In fact i have been 100% sure of some people that were hacking...

Now some of us have played here for along time and PvP has been their core time spent on the server. Now most of these people will have gained a half decent perception on ships and there movements. Now i would like to think i have a pretty high PvP standard, Others may disagree... But i would think that i know the dynamics of the game and what is different when it is changed.

Just an idea... Maybe the admins need to get some players to scout the PvP's although it would have to be chosen wisely with unbiased views lol. And they would have to be good at PvP in the first place to really spot people that are cheating but thats just an idea.

just to inform people here, accusing people in public for cheating does NOT help, it makes the situation worse by adding flames and all that load of crap...to forums and ingame, my opinion is, cheat accusers should be just as ashamed as the cheaters, but also i dont support cheaters, i dont flame them either, i go silent (well didnt use to do that)
