Cloak is a good idea...

BUT NOT FOR VOID. There is already enough bitching and arguments on the server without Rogues and Pirates calling players n00bs cos they cloaked and ran. Cloaking is best for SINGLE PLAYER. the hamburg server has a cloak WOW! go on there then but i completely do not tthink 100% that a cloak should ever be put into effect in the VOID. there already is one for the ADMINS and VOIDS im sure lets leave it at that :D. i hav enoticed that strail or any admins have posted here (only VOIDS) (i think  :-? ) i think it is wise for one of them to post here and state thier opinion..thus settling the matter. :D

also if there were a cloak to be enforced it shuld follow the same rules as start trek, ie no cloak hopping (uncloak fire cloak) cant fire under cloack cant warp under claok (cruise) etc etc etc

Peace out

The cloaking ability should be added to one ship that's specialized for traveling and spying. It should be a little cruddy at fighting and survivability (perhaps a light fighter). The cloak technology should make the distance you need to be to detect the ship smaller (you need to be closer than normal to see the player). It should also use up firing energy slowly when left on.

Cargoships that have cloaking ability should have slightly less firepower and hull.

Then it shouldn't be overpowered. Players can use strategies to catch cloaked cargo ships (wait at the end of a highway...whatever you call those xD). Cloaked ships will have their own strategies (like staying away from high-traveled routes).

He must have gone for a quick look around.  Its an interesting idea, but given the "politics" round here it might not go down so well.  As with all things when cloaked you should be unable to operate your weapons with at least a three second delay after uncloaking in order to fire.  I like the idea of the craft with the cloak being a fast but less than well armed vessel.  The difference here is that you have so much room to move around in that cloaking is realy only an ADMIN tool to keep an eye on conversations and nonsense.  I have flown up behind even some of the more experienced players and shot their tails off during combat turns even without such a device.

I think the idea was shelved as the complications were going to be too hard to deal with from a VOID and ADMIN perspective.
