i see this as a great opportunity for rp, not just a killing spree in alex. with most of the traders making there trade through alex (you all know which one i mean....a cirtain lux food run...... this will spice things up and get the traders hireing escorts to protect them.

i forsee many a great battle ahead........

cya in space traders...

umm

could you then update the server rules plz?
still says piracy is banned in alex and new york

and while you are doing this, why not get rid of those 2k-no-kill zones around capital planets docking rings?
with the whole new york system being a no-kill-zone, i cant see any reasonable purpose for these, as no-kill-zones cause much argueing without doing any good.

This is just a trial period. No need to change the rules if it's not going to work.

The no kill zones will be left in place so that new players can spawn there. Currently they are only spawning at Manhattan but, we don't want to close that option down.

I'm glad the admins have finally given it even just a small testing chance. This way we can physically prove that RP will be increased so much for Navy (offering patrols and defence), pirates (taxing... of course), and rogues... kinda... (kill more peeps!).

I can't wait for this rule-change to soon become set in stone (large guess... not saying it's so)

[Barsine Bob] There are no Pirates in Alexandria and there never will be![/]

Wow, went through there today and never saw so many Pirates in my 2ish months here. :D I think the Pirates/Sparta message is going to need changing, though it always seemed overstated to me.Seems to work ok so far...

Well from what I have seen of the newly opened piracy in Alex has been all good. I have seen the pirates getting paid tax, they have been taxing players over lvl 40 only and the navy clans and hunters have been making some earn thier money. So far so good as I see it. And just FYI, I am seeing this from my VOID tag as I cannot see well enough to play my pirate myself really.

traders are paying tax...navy are gettin escort jobs.....think this shows that this was a good idea.

i went on a taking spree along the trade lanes through alex and back, and by time i got back to the gates i had taxed 10 traders and made 1mil credits.......

And it wasnt really busy either, most days there are a lot more than 10 traders flying in alex. So oppertunity to make some good money has opened up now,

I have mixed feelings about the Piracy in Alex, but so far, other than a few mishaps...I may be proven wrong...I hope that is the case.

The first day of the new Alexandria rules, there were a few mistakes, and under level 20 players were killed. BUT, the pirates were all very apologetic and repaid them for their losses with honour. Thank you to those pirates!

A word of warning here to those pirating in Alex now...

PLEASE Check your Target's Level _IN the Chat Screen_ not just the target box listing.

Sometimes the cargo a freighter is carrying will push their target box level over 20, when in fact, they are still below that in reality.

Just my two bits here, I do announce this little reminder to everyone when I am on in my Guard char, so that we try to avoid the mishaps of what I now think of as *Opening Day* of Alexandria. ;)

As for the paying of tax and piracy issues overall, I hope that more people will begin paying pirates their due, with or without the fight for tax before hand.

Just my two bits...
Remember, the truth is often hidden behind shadows of misinformation,

Actually I payed a 200k tax one time so far :p (I offered 250k to see what would happen >:D)  To be honest, most of my time trading I fly an APC (the big thing with no shields and 1540 cargo space) which allows me to successfully run from the NPCs (most of the time because of the insane hull strength) and most of the time that sucker is not capable of escaping another player flying any sort of halfway decent fighter (though the fact that I equip mostly shield breakers tends to scare the crap out of them for a second or two after the first shot :P) So if I have a cargo worth more than 200k (they nearly always are) I'll pretty much always pay the tax, however if I don't have a cargo..... prepare to have at the very least your shields broken >:D .
