Rogues/Pirates
Hi all
Only recently started playing FL again but was never a hardcore player before. Just wandering if anyone could clarify what these two types of players consist of and things such as 'tax' an all that junk?
Ive only ever been on servers where you have clans and thats it. As far as I was aware you could shoot who you wanted (within server rules)
Cheers

Re: Rogues/Pirates
The [X] and [R] are for RP purposes. You MUST have a [X] in order to tax. Maximum tax = 200k aka 200.000 credits.
[R] is a Rogue witch should be killed on sight by the whole server when seen. A rogue can kill everything without warning. Evil clans also can do this without needing the [R] tagg. As its forbidden to use the [R] tagg in clan's.
Please correct me if im wrong.

Re: Rogues/Pirates
I think you are correct Nomy
as he said the [X] is for being a pirate and without it you cannot tax, they pirates are evil and they will probably be attacked by all the good guys out there. They can group up and there are even (or was) some pirate clans out there.
The [R] is for being a rouge, this is the rp you pick if you want to be an enemy to all. they are not allowed to tax and neither to make clans. They will be attacking everyone and will be attacked by everyone.

Re: Rogues/Pirates
Ok cheers guys, has cleared it up a bit.
I take it by 'tax' you mean the pirate saying to the victim 'give me so and so for your life' and then the victim must choose whether to pay or fight?
I think I will just start off as a freelancer see how I get on then maybe choose what I wanna do
Cheers

Re: Rogues/Pirates
is it not a little less to tax only 200K ?
You get with a transporter 3 millions one trade.
200K i think is too low.
Why not to get the Tax free. Most Players has more than enough credits.
Think each Pirat get the tax by itself and rank of player he tax.

Re: Rogues/Pirates
It depends.
But you need to be fair with players at low level
until lvl 20is illegal t tax or shoot them
but if you are 21 - you are in trouble
and at that level , 200 000 is a lot of money

This has been debated and argued upon many many times earlier.
The rule stayed, the intention was for pirates to stop making insane demands for tax like "30 mil" etc and to make pirates work together to get their money.he amount of tax it seemes was irrelevant to pirate RP.
Anyway this doesn't matter any more because there are almost no pirates out there who do tax regularly, piracy is more or less dead.

Re: Rogues/Pirates
Hey man, I pirate all the time! My favourite RP. And for the record as a true pirate I don't care how much I am allowed to tax, I don't do it for the money! All about the enjoyment of the RP.
And hey eyeless, it does work like that. If a pirate ask for tax, you can do 1 of 3 things:
1. Pay the pirate 200,000 credits. Nothing above it!
2. Fight the pirate. If you lose, you pay him when you respawn. If you win, you don't have to pay anything (unless you bump into him again).
3. RUN! In this case, it is considered fair to regen, but ONLY if you do not fire upon the Pirate. As soon as you fire a shot off at the opponent, it's considered a PvP, and it's considered bad form to regen.
Tax you in space my friend
and if this sounds like fun, check out [AoF]'s [X] wing, the wing dedicated to piracy and organized crime. Check us out at http://aof-association.forumotion.com !

Pirates should make there money by taxing ;) thats why they can tax. Full load of cannonballs = 700k. Now you try to make profit with 200k tax limit.

Re: Rogues/Pirates
Well the roles work odd here..
Rogue role means join group and be friendly with the bad guys.....with other rogues and with generally anyone you want...
Pirate role....doesn't really excist..bar the direct few, i've been asked for tax once when they couldn't even see me, and when i beat him for half an hour. He asked for tax for him to leave me alone.....

That was not the case earlier, piracy was the dominant RP three years ago with these huge pirate clans like Vagu etc,but various things happened and Rogue became dominant RP.
There are only a few good pirates out there, and like Pax mentioned there do it for a few.
Pirate RP is due for a revival,it has had many false starts promising something but every time somebody tried, there wasn't much success in these past 2-3 years.

Re: Rogues/Pirates
I do remember years ago how active the pirates were.. I hardly see any pirates taxing now, if i may just re-start this post a bit, i think this is something that could be active again. While 200k is reasonable to tax a char under a certain level, why not just have 3 bands of tax levels.. Lets say you have a rank 30 player, 200k is reasonable, but most pirates should not really bother taxing them. Why not just say anyone over level 50 could be taxed 1 mil, and anyone over level 60 can be taxed 2 mil or something.. This has to be more worth while to a pirate to focus on the higher level players and leave new players trade a while, to build their money and rank up more.
The reason i suggest this is, someone like me, who really hates trading after spending years and years doing it, would rather be able to make money another way (other than boring NPC missions). Personally i love to pvp, that is now why i play FL, and if i make a pirate char, at the current 200k tax rule, i would not be able to even cover the costs of my ammo. This makes it pointless to even bother making an [X] tag for me, while you have some enjoying the RP, they already have plenty of money, and are happy enough to go around taxing for 200k. But even that will run out eventually, then a pirate has to trade or go and do missions again, which is nothing to do with that side of RP. If you made it so pirates could tax for 2 mil as a maximum for over rank 60 chars, there is a greater chance you will encourage more players to become pirates and acctually make their living doing it. I know i would seriously consider doing it, as a way to start making my money.
I really hope this could be considered to bring that bit of life back into piracy again, and for the RP of pirates to acctually mean something. :)
