In my humble opinion, and many people will not agree but,

In the new mod, everyones cash should be taken away until they got around 20mill less. Gives people something to do. RP would get a life again and perhaps with the new ships and routes you could have it back soon as well.

Still, i havn't seen an AT for 3-4 months now  :|

For the plan - not bad - for the first week of the new mod anyhow.
As for the AT - dono' - probably you log in when no one is online - i see allot of them.

What we lack is strict specialization. We try hard to achieve it, but on A SHOOTER SERVER all
Marauders are forced to learn how to fight (more or less efficient)

rofl, taking people money would only cause more problems, im not trying to cause a flame if people take this wrong... oh well

take Prog, she/he i forget srry.... killed many.many.many npcs to earn money, if you worked that hard for all that money and once you logged on, poof it was gone, i dont think you would be a happy camper.

but i do like the idea of having to have gas or something. so like maybe a withdraw of money once a day when you log on? idk... but to take peoples earned money away wouldo nly cause more problems... srry

as for traders, i see them every day, look m8, just look, there all over the place, some hide in the omegas, some in taus, some in NB you just have to go fly out and look...

Thorn!

Traders are there.Though their numbers have fallen more rapidly than the fall in Void numbers.
Void number have plateaued off and are not falling much anymore but number of traders have dropped significantly.

Some are hiding.
A number of them know trade routes far away from all the activities, they are shady.
Some don't use [T] tag.
A very small number don't use AT to trade.

Generally speaking-
Trading is not fun.
Its only a necessity that one engages in occasionally.
Lot of money, who wants to trade when there is no need for it?
The mod has very poor concepts of trading in it.
It has made trading a mechanical process.
(See Mod Discussion Forum where a lot of discussion has taken place on plight of trading in Void, many solutions proposed, however no word from modder and Dev Team on whether any of this would be considered.**Imagine the frustration of many like me who put forward many ideas and not getting any concrete reply.**
In fact the modders+Admins have NOT even once initiated any discussion on trading.
No topic starter, their views only come out when somebody else has begun the discussion.
No feedback ever asked in entire history of Void.
Trading is very low on priority for mod developers.>>FACT.Example the defunct Traders and Corps discussion group.
All discussion is initiated by general concerned Voidians.)

As for [AoF],don't expect only us to carry banner of trading high, why can't others do some trading and get their own trading divisions?(Other than Marauders,i don't see any traders division)
[AoF] is about 3 years old,in the tradition of clans that have become quite old,we are no longer that active, nor are we dynamic like when were new, many of us have moved on and play other games.
We are just like the many other old clans here, small and content with our size.

And finally taking the money away from players who earned it by slogging and working hard is a VERY BAD IDEA.>>Learn some principles of economics on how to mop up excess liquidity in markets through various measures other than simple mindless erasure of wealth.
(If you want ideas on how to stop the rot, check this topic-
http://www.voidserver.com/modules.php?n ... ic&t=22435

Good luck with further discussion, there has been enough discussion on this, but no action.

I may not be popular for this, but the AT is one of the reasons trading died. Not the ship in special- but the fact that it's huge (compared to the other freighters) cargo hold made
a) some trade runs excessivly lucrative
b) all other freighters 100% useless

What's the fun in that? Before the AT, one could really have some fun in trading and make some decent cash, i.e. equipped with a Thoth. But now, the profits aint worth it. One just takes an AT, trades for some hours and never has to worry about cash ever again.

I won't even restart the debate why a pirate can tax only so limited cash considering the revenues traders can make :-)

Disagree

Why?

Because in cases with Players like me who got billions of cash for many many purposes required for a huge clan like ESF and it's squads , So if this applied , then we are broken badly , we have a very unique system for gathering resources to the clan from the clan members , And this will all be dead if your idea is applied on players like me ,,,, also many others , who hold banks and armories for clans - this is very serious.

All clans should have trade ships and they should all be tagged.

You trade in your untagged ATs greedy to get money to fight in your pvps for a "war".

Make it a rule that all clan trade ships need to be tageed and that way you will see more traders and also escort wings making sure that the traders make their runs suuccesful.  Then you will see a "real" war.  Cut off an enemies trade runs and detroy their cargo ships and you damage their cash flow.

You know it aint really that hard.  Just tweak the rules slightly in the direction of rp.  (Oh I forgot "this is a pvp server not a rp server".

Cheers.

My problem is a thorny one and wont go down well in some areas.  There are other servers (and I know they are not VOID...!) who have a rather interesting approach to large traders - it restricts the availability of large traders to those with VAST amounts of money thereby making it more difficult to gain large sums of money - I have noticed that there are very many players here that have reached the heady hights of level 90 - an area normaly restricted to that of ADMINS and VOIDS.  A bit pointless in that you cant buy anything more than most other players and all it does is remove the need to trade - at least for a very long time.

Personaly with the release of the new mod I would see players reduced to level 70 max. The specialist traders that we have such as the Feur Zeuge and the Skipping Stone should be more than adequate.  If you require to buy the AT it should come in at a price that would take you a while to get it - same goes for battleships. Say around 300 million for an AT or similar large transporter and about 200 million for a battleship.

Chances of that happening are pretty slim - but I do feel that some things are far too easily obtained on the VOID. People should have to work for their cash - get enough to PvP - but then also fight carefuly due to the time it takes to build up cash reserves -would make people pick their battles more carefuly.

I would love to see a character wipe - everyone start from square one again ..... ! What fun that would be..
;)

Dont see it happening though.

Have to agree with Zebulon there, although not on the level markdown part. It would be better with revised costs on every ship and weapon in the game. Make you a little less frivolous with your ship-changing :D

Regarding trading and prices, there needs to be a carefull balance.
Basically, because there are two different principals of players involved here:
1) the ones who mainly want to pvp/war
2) Ones more (or also) interested in missions and/or trading

Now, if you make everything too expensive you will looes the 1) players. Personally, if I would have to do 1 hour of trading for 1 hour of pvp...well that's a server I would not have played on.
On the other hand, player type 2) needs something in exchange for a lot of cash.

These are just some suggestions, some of them I have seen on other servers, how a compromise *may* be made.

-Introduce many non-combat orientated methods of spending cash (e.g. weekly rent for clan bases)
-make everything expensive and get the point across to type 1) players that if they don't want to spend their time earning cash they have to find a clan who supports them
-reduce the amount which can be earned on trade routes; lengthen the lucrative routes. If one can get to lvl 90 quickly, it's worthless and leads to inflation.
-huge freighters only can be bought by licensed trading corporations (e.g. clans). In turn, they have to pay tax (nooo, not to pirates) on their revenues to the "government", because they are legitimate big buissiness. Smaller freighters, in turn, don't pay taxes...you may think of them more as smugglers or other small jobbers.
-why not create a "virtual stock exchange" with the corporations mentioned above? This could be a comperativly simple addon to the void page, based on the FLstat stats.

Just some thoughts...

cheers

Becker

edit: and yes.. a player wipe... or a reduction of everyone to "reasonable" levels is IMHO unavoidable. If a clan does not work without billions of credits, it's defunct anyway.

I dont want a character whipe just a money one. Or atleast some of it to be dectucted. As there were these buggs that caused an immense rise of player lvls and there cash. Like the battleship ammo one.

And i agree. If your trading for the clan your char should also be tagged that way imo. Rember different char different personality (like we ever acted that way but hey its a pvp server)

A tax for ''Large companies'' would be good. Just like they have to pay bills IRL. Not to immense as well.

The AT is to small, and the routes are to short (Look at the Ring > oder shipyard, its the station next to it)

Make ships like the Transport available and the routes to multi system again. Could rise RP abit as well. And the job of the navy. As they have nothing to do then shoot @ syns or BL's lol.
