new ships feedback thread
On Hash's suggestion, here's a feedback thread on all the ships. I'll start, feel free to add yours as well - I think that it's not just the ships' creators that are interested in what people think about all the ships :P
Apophis: to be honest, it was a disappointment for me. It really needs a texture change. Personally, I'd remove one of those guns, make it a bit more maneuverable, peel some armor off, and give it 2 x CD/T slots. I mean, even the new LFs have those now, so why not the Apophis? :/
Barat: hmm. I can't decide whether to like or dislike this one. (Nah, it's not love / hate.) I like to kill it on missions, it's pretty well balanced as an NPC. I like to kill it in fights, because it's how a small and sleek HF should be. However, it might be a tad too small. So, hm. I abstain on this one. It's definitely good for variety, though.
Buccaneer: the only thing I used this for was to fly to nearby systems to get better ships :P Tbh I don't think anyone's gonna use freighters other than the Sovereign.
Beluga, Compactor, Ebon Goliath, Mamut, Merchantman, Skarbat, Tartan: same as with the Buccaneer.
Condor: nothing on this one yet. With the Barat around, it just seems a bit redundant, and well... it's a shuttle, why would I wanna fight in one? :D
Dragonhound: I liked the concept on this one, but even with all the engines, it still seemed too slow - not to mention a big(gish) target. I passed on it pretty soon.
Ghost: so far, I haven't tried this (or the other LFs) out, but they seem to be worth a try sometime. I like how it looks, though. (Finally a spaceship that would probably fly well.)
Greyhound: I'm trying this ship out now atm, and so far, I like it. I love how it looks, and the fact that the guns are wide apart (with only a weaker central turret) is a good bonus too. It's not exactly maneuverable, and the one 1 CD/T slot feels in place there, because it has the most weapons (after a Waran, that is). I think this one's definitely a keeper. <3 for Zsoca.
Intruder: hm, dunno. It looks better than a Conqueror, but while I tried it out, it felt in every aspect worse than the Conqueror. I fought someone in it, and he definitely did worse in it than he usually does. (He switched to a TR-13 pretty soon afterwards.) It would be good if this ship replaced that ugly Conqueror, and had its same stats, but since it ain't - well, I don't think we're gonna see many of these around.
Kerniak: I almost fell out of the chair laughing when I saw this one :D Sorry, Hash, but why did you design a flying board? :D Still, I'm definitely gonna try this LF too - it's something new alright :P
Lubine: same as the Ghost.
Phantom: looks plain. Flies very well. So well, in fact, that by now I agree that it's overpowered. Not as overpowered as the Eagle used to be, or the TC, but it could come third to that. It has the turning of a HF (still worse than a Viper or a WA1, though), and almost the same firepower, shields and armor as VHFs. The only thing that's worse is its power supply, but you can work around that - and in that case, it's pretty much like a VHF. Lose a bit of that armor (say, to 9000) and the class 10 shield to class 9, and it'd probably fit in better with the other ships.
Sovereign: finally, a freighter with the same hold as the AT that can actually defend itself! <3 <3 <3 Zsoca :D It looks badass - heh, almost too badass for a freighter. (At first, I thought it was a cruiser.) I fought against some of these - if they're well equipped (class 10 turrets, carbon/nomad armor upgrade, and so on) they have a chance at fighting off an attacker. Which is a lot more than what you can say about the AT. Goodbye, old brick, and hello to the new freighter of choice! :P (I'd give it more armor, though. 20000 should do well.)
However, I gotta say that I expected there to be more variety in the high-end freighters though, not just the AT and the Sovereign.
Syntax: I liked this one ever since the first screenshots arrived, and when it turned out that I didn't have to wait for 2145 to come out, I was really happy. I was less happy when it turned out that I couldn't get it because of the Tartarus bug, but hey, it was worth the wait! The majority of us Reavers are now flying this ship, and with good reason. It has a bit less firepower than your average VHF, but since it's such a small target from the front, it balances out. Much <3 for the makers of this ship!
TR-13: so, is this a Corsair or an Outcast ship? :P But anyway, it looks badass. It flies the same as other VHFs, has the same weapons - it's pretty much an Anubis Mk 2 for the evils, one that's more sleek and looks a lot better than that one.
Typhoon Mk 2: I haven't tried yet, but based on the stats, this HF seems pretty much inferior to all the other ones around. (Also, what about the Typhoon Mk 1? :P)
Typhoon Mk 3: This VHF, however, is an entirely different matter :) It turns better than other VHFs, and at 140, goes a lot faster - so much that even with the weakened armor, I still think this is a bit overpowered, even if it's quite a big target. Give it the same turning as other VHFs, however, and it should be good to go.
Vagabond: I haven't flown this one all that much, but I liked it. Less weapons, more maneuverability. I love its looks as well (yet another spaceship that could actually fly well), but it's a pretty big target from the top/bottom. Maybe if it were a bit smaller, we'd see more of these around.
Warhound: This one's a keeper as well. Gotta love how badass it looks, no wonder it's gained some popularity (in our clan, at least). I really like how the guns are all bunched up in the front - though some dislike it precisely for this reason. 1 CD and 1 T sounds just about right with this ship.
Westerhand: I really love the concept of transporters. The execution... well, it feels like an open beta. Ports are bugged, and there are no useful trading routes. (I did come up with a few, but looking at the profit-time ratio, they are still worse than the - incredibly unbalanced - NB run.) Also, it has enhancer and thruster slots, yet you can't mount anything there.
If all these were fixed, though, I'll most definitely keep one. Atm it's the only capship that's actually usable, and if its turning and speed stays this way, it might be useful as a fighter platform as well. Maybe it should have more armor, though. I mean, even a luxury liner is better armored.
Yerom: no CD, no torpedoes? :( I'd definitely give this little flea a try, but it should at least have a CD. If it had, it might actually be pretty fun to fly.
YtBat: a Vagabond with two more guns, and being a larger target. Well, I dunno. I don't really like how it looks, to me, it seems like something from a circus :P Stat-wise, it looks good, but because it's actually a pretty big target, I'm gonna pass on this one.

Re: new ships feedback thread
I've not got a lot to offer, but I do have some input.
Apophis. I can see why the 2 CD/Torp wasn't included for this. But I do think that it needs that, and in turn it's turnrate slowing down. It goes above the 2115v6 normal by having a total of 9 guns, even if the turrets are both class 9 it's still more potential firepower. And it turns like a HF.
Phantom. Overpowered. I've known this from the start. If you ask me, it needs a completely revised model, it's simply too small.
From what I've seen, the Barat and TR-13 are well made and balanced. Look decent too.

Apophis - U are definitely right. Tbh i hate the texture that I made for that ship...but I had a feeling that the Apophis is cursed lol...I tried so many textured and no one was enough good, but I hope that in new mod will have better textures.
Greyhound - it was made by me not by Hash :P :P
Sovereign - I am happy that players like these ship. In FL terminology it is a freighter but if I wanna be more specific it is a clipper
Dragonhound - all allways loved the Bloodhond design, but that ship is too weak for a decent fight, so my idea was a Bloodhond design ship, I will be not surprised if players will fly these ship rarely, but its a good addition for Mollys
Westerhand - well its a big ship :D
About the torpedos...I designed all my ships with one torp slot...different people have different points of views about ship weapon configurations...I like "canon" weap configs...like 1 torp, 4 or 5 guns max on FLs etc...

Re: new ships feedback thread
Vagabond, this might be the ship I end up with after going through all these. It's small yet not as small as e.g. the Crow. It's a VHF so it can take a punch and in manouvering its imo similar to the Anubis MK2 , my favourite pre update ship. though it lacks some of the firepower that the Anubis mk2 has with only 4/2 G/T
Yerom
This is a fun little bugger, small quite fast, 6 cl 9 guns 2 cl 8 turrets. one thing I really dislike about though is this: No CD nor Torp :O Oh well I guess a pirate needs to have the second hand ships
Barat, small yet with firepower, I like even though I tend to suck in small ships
Warhound, not much to say except: Love is in space (love is in the air) every where you look around, dum dum di dum dum, love is out in space. Man I love it, is just the way I like the VHF's Heavy, Large, Slow, Mssivie Firepower, massive hull.
On a side note:
Zsoca, what about a texture similar to the one used on the Sovereing? maybe darken it a bit to match the dark colours of space some more, but I think that might look good.
It is also in my opinion that an entire series of Sovereing ships be made as capital ships for europe. So they won't have to fly around in the Rheinland stuff

Re: new ships feedback thread
Lots of sexy looking ships out there, mod team done a cracking job :x
Ill echo what cmdrsaman said about the Syntax. A well balanced fighter with dead sexy looks :)
Ive always had a thing for the light fighter class ships. Tried them all and love them all. Im flying a Ghost ATM and it is perfect. Think of a Drake with lvl 8 turrets, lvl 9 weps and shield and there you have it, all wrapped up in a tiny little Ghost package. Power drain when loaded up with full spec weps is fast so you have to watch your aim but that is countered with twin torp launchers.
The perfect Assassin ship :)

Re: new ships feedback thread
@ Zsoca: oops, sorry :P Mistake corrected.
About the Westerhand: yeah, it's a big ship, that's not a problem at all :P The problem is that trading with capital ships has lots of bugs atm :/ But if those get fixed, it should add some really good flavor to trading.
I'll echo Loken: please do capital ships for Europa too! :D (Hint SE-101 hint.)
@ Zeus: yeah, if the Phantom were scaled up to be larger, and its turning toned down, then it'd work pretty well with the other HFs.
@ Loken: the thing is, the Yerom isn't a second-hand ship, as NPCs use them too :P (Maybe they're running low on funds?)

Sovereign - design cap ships hmmm, I see decks, huge internal engines, loong ships, solar sails
:D and millions of polligons for each ship
:D :D :D
The SE-101well I need to refit that ship along with other older designs

Re: new ships feedback thread
i would like to say that all ships satisfy me personally , although there is many clan members in ESF wanting many modifications on many kinds of Ships , but we appreciate the work and we are thankful

Sorry, Hash, but why did you design a flying board?
Still, I'm definitely gonna try this LF too - it's something new alright

Hahaha!! =))
Yeah m8. I knew and know that some ships are quite strange. Sometimes it's my intention, sometimes I start welding plates and the result is.. that.
You'll see (I hope) that all of them are very different one from each other, at least that's what I tried. So you can choose from a "wide" varitey. I think admins did very well giving that "extra" punch to light fighters and removing it from VHFs.
Don't be surprised if the Yerom has no room for CD/Torp, until now no single LF had it.
Hehe, and don't worry if you don't like'em all. It's obvious.
Now that I know their final statts I'm thinking of giving them a final "touch". Idk what Vec-X or R-Shot will think about that. :P
We still gotta fix a couple of things on them.
And I still haven't found them all!!! lol, where did u hide them Vec? :-/

Re: new ships feedback thread
My favorite ship by far is grey hound. i dont know why but it reminds me of the a-10...(how the hell?)
i love the wing weps and i think it is extremelly fun to fly. the one downfall is the power plant but then again shooting nothing but class 10 cant be healthy.
ive taken a look at the others and not many seem to enthuse me. if the greyhound cant put up i might go for a syntax or a ytbat. although the typhoon Mk3 looks really sexy
