The evolutionary tree

I must say i still see some complaints here, one of the many reasons i left FL.

Why? what good comes out of it? comon... other people here that don't reply to such topics really climb that far up on the evolutionary tree compared to some others here? (No I'm not talking about the recent DACIA ban, I'm not even talking about DACIA, I'm talking about voidians that cannot keep their mouth shut when they see a topic they can complain on, or point on others) It isn't hard, it's just stop reading the forums, or stop writing a reply to topics that angers you. Others here climbed up so high on the evolutionary tree (It ain't exactly high, you cant fly and such ) that they can keep themselves from punching the other in the face even though he/she is angry. Start by not replying to this topic for example, i know some won't like this. You can "evolve" yourself through life, look at me for example, i used to flame (years ago before =ESF= became -=|DKH|=-), do i flame these days when i am reading forums? This post is just pointing out why the community isn't growing.


If you want this community to grow even though Freelancer is dying, have an appropriate attitude, common sense should give you a hint what that means. I heard people around here saying "I hate him and her, that person and blah blah blah", let me ask you, is it worth it? is it really worth using your energy on such a strong feeling as hate towards a person you don't even know in real life? What is the point wasting hate away on something as a person on the internet? is it Sure i do dislike Ikea, Microsoft and other supercapitalistic companies, though i do not even like the idea of capitalism, but dislike is not hate.


I know this post wont change anything, if it gets better i just wanted to be a part of it...

Start here by not replying, and follow the same decision through a number of future topics.

This is the internet, there always have been and always will be flames :) Same as on the Void forums. There've been worse flames in the past, and the server is still here. In my opinion, it will die if playing on the server will no longer be fun for the majority. Or if the flames reach such a level that even Vector and the others decide that running the server is no longer worth it - thankfully, that hasn't happened yet :) (Though as I hear, it nearly did some time before.) In the end, though, what happens in-game is more important than what happens on the forums.

Anyway, that's just my two cents. Now I'll go back to playing the game, reading the forums and posting on them sometimes :P

lol you got a point but this is not the internet, this is THE VOID, a part of the internet, parts of the internet can improve

If you want the community to grow (this part of the internet) flames has to decrease, because new players get scared off by them

Hm, you're saying people should stop flaming because new players get scared off by the flames? I doubt that's the case, since in my experience, the majority of new players don't even read the forums anyway :) Also, in my opinion, the growth and decline of any gaming server isn't rocket science: old players leave, and new players are coming in, and those who don't lose their interest in playing on the Void stay. If the ones staying number more than the ones who're leaving, the community is growing. If more people are leaving than are coming, then it begins to decline. And usually, people choose to leave because they don't have fun here. If you ensure that as many people have fun as possible, then things should work out.

That last sentence makes it sound easy - but as usual, the devil's in the details :P I'm not gonna go into that, it'd be a wholly different thread. I'm only posting this here because it is related to the topic at hand: namely, that I'd like to ask everyone to not start flaming right away, so that the forums are a more civilised place, and using them is more fun for both old and new players alike :) And the same goes for in-game, of course.

If you have problems with someone that you can't solve, then try talking with them first. If it doesn't work out, take the issue to the staff. Both can and should be done privately. If you still feel a need to discuss anything openly, then please do so in a civilised manner. I'm not going to say that anyone shouldn't post about issues they think there are, since getting them "locked up" is not going to solve anything - after all, problems have a very nasty habit of not solving themselves by themselves :P But y'know, even a little respect can go a long way. You'll find that you can have more fun playing here if you show everyone some respect, especially the ones whom you don't like at first. And if there are people whom you still don't have fun playing with, then the solution is: don't play with them. (So far, it has worked well for me.) The Sirius sector is actually pretty big, and it's better to spend time searching for people who you like playing with than to waste time on searching for ones whom you don't :P


But that's just my two cents. The total on the table is now four cents, so I'm outta here before I fill the place up with too many of those imaginary coins :P
