I agree with Entropy. I have played on a server that had looting. If a PVP was going on (mutually agreed that is, not war) the winner tractored in the ammo and returned it to the looser. In war situations, the rules changed, what you got you kept if you wanted to.
The looting of cargo and unmounted weaps is a good thing because it encourages traders to hire fighter escorts and adds spice to the game.
Personally, I run one missle for those hard to nail suckers. If playing a looting mod I carry less missles than a non looting mod. Right now I carry a full load (120), if this server goes to looting, I will go to like 20.
I vote yes just because it adds a dimension of realism to the game. Sorry, bot you can not have your ship explode and NOT drop cargo or unmounted stuff... nasty thing called the laws of physics

I've used an player looting mod before. It is more fun then normal. With this looting, you need to be more carefull. When you don't want to fight. If you die you lose all.
So I voted for Yes

As mentioned im not worried about losing ammo cost is insignifigant really.
Only real concerns are any increase in lag (more items floating around)
and to a lesser extent possibly less pvp for pure fun. for instance popped on for an hour after a boring day at work last nite and had a blast with coyote and a couple of pirates etc..all v.good natured stuff...even if i did see 'jaafs has died' on screen a few too many times lol.
id say looting yes but taking F1 off no because i mean what if ppl have to go (im talking about ppl who have school/work) and they are MILES away from a place to dock E.g. Unknown 1 or some where. (i mean like other side of U1 from Osiris). So there are good and bad points to no F1ing...
i say honestly .... didnt read all what was written here .... but i vote FOR LOOTING ... and even more ... SMART LOOTING - that means u can loot a random (mounted!!!! - not cargo !!!) device or/and ammo at random percentage after killing a PLAYER. The player would reborn with all mounted weps anyway - that i think could be fair ... cargo is lost ... but ... it would be lost anyway (even without looting)
ok, if u want a cargo loot --- put a VERY small percentage of dropping lootable cargo after death
Voted: NO WAY IN HELL
This will give the modders a hey day and most of us hard working players will suffer the consequences.
You all had better rethink your decisions immediately before you funk us all.
Player looting is a good idea IF there are limits.
First, mounted equipment should still be on ship when it is destroyed, not floating in space afterwards, so defeated player still has something to work with.
Second, the defeated player should lose half remaining bots and bats, as well as any unmounted equipment, but half of that equipment should be destroyed with ship, (other half of bots and bats still on ship at respawn).
Third, half of cargo should be lost, half in space if player is in a fighter class ship, LF, HF, and VHF. All lost if player is in freighter class ship, no temptations.
Last, player could lose half his credits to victor if amount is between, say, 80,000-120,000, no credits if amount is less, 50,000 or 60,000 if amount is more.
With these limitations, player looting can still be fun, but safe for defeated player. If anyone can not handle dying, then they should travel in groups, strength in numbers.
