<3 kahless, damn you know your stuff dude, Shame we never really got to talk more :)
Although I have to say, i though both GFX chips were nearly out performed by the 7600 GT (but the again that does out perform most of the 8000 range because they were shaped up for Direct X10 pretty quickly.) its a shame that they really didn't push the boat out far enough to out perform the PC range but then again the xbox and PS3 will still out perform most people's PC's if they haven't upgraded in a while. which is why they didn't need to push so far past the PC line of gaming, because only the really hard core PC users will get near to the same graphics out of games like crysis etc.
@ urami - All games are dependent on themselves so each have their own story lines, like kumori said, so you wont have any trouble getting into it as all characters and story lines will be developed through the game play.
@ andrax - All you needed to kill Anima was - Aim and wakka, and if you had attack reels, perfect wheel that and kaboom. Also a ribbon was nice for hear death. hehe.
@Pandor - I love Tidus, and squall, in fact I really like all the characters except a few, they are portrayed really well and always have really cool characteristics and traits. But squall, rinoa, tidus and Yuna are the ones that really stick out for me. I thought the FF9 characters (Bar vivi, weren't realyl explained to well.)

Killzone 2 shows the PS3 is better in terms of graphics with yet more to squeeze out of the console...
But yeah, story lines and plots are always great except 9 for me, but you cant deny its gotta have a good game play as well

. I wouldn't be able to play it otherwise.

Hasnt it always been the case? You are always going to get the whole "This console is great for graphics but not so hot on gameplay - This other console is great for content and gameplay but the graphics are not that hot...." Its been going ever since the Zx Spectrum hit the market! lol - I suspect its down to personal choice - Im a fan of KILLZONE on the PS2 - so I am biased towards KZ2 on the PS3 - however.... I played HALO and Gears of War......! *(ouch)* - fantastic stuff - To be honest for an old short sighted dude like me the graphics are not a huge problem because ANYTHING that looks like its a movie has me smiling like a cat that got the cream....! Solution? Buy BOTH consoles and fill your boots!

I never thought gears of war was that great in terms on graphics, it was all to mono tone darkness for my liking, and the game play I thought was repetitive. Im not a fan boy, I just like to read about hardware and reviews.

Yeah the thing about PC's versus Consoles comes down to one thing and one thing alone...each 360 is exactly the same as the next one and each PS3 is exactly the same as the next one...PC's are all different even if on paper they have similar specs, something as small as a different Northbridge chip in one machine can make all the difference.
I agree that Gears is a VERY monotone game but this has quite a bit to do with the Unreal3 engine and of course the fact that the game is set in a world ravaged by 14 years of all out war, it was never going to be as bright and rainbowed as Halo is. Then again Gears 2 is a great example of how things can be improved greatly just by using more efficient methods..
It's still the same Unreal3 engine as before only this time they used a better texture streaming method allowing for more layers of texturing per surface than in Gears 1 (they also had the textures "merge" into the scene rather than "pop") they avoided using bump maps or parallax maps on surfaces that simply didn't need either (a big bad habit of game makers these days is to just pile on the effects without care or attention, shiney bricks get right on my nerves but you see them everywhere in games but NEVER in real life) and they streamlined the AI. This together allowed them to use 30,000 more triangles per second which in turn enabled them to use swarm logic controlled AI hoardes increasing the number of enemies you face dramatically and to improve the real time depth of field effect as well as tweak the HDR lighting. It's still monotone though lol. They did all that without finding more power, they just used the power they had more sensibly. Last time I saw that kind of leap was between Hitman Codename 74 and Hitman 2, both have the same specs but Hitman 2 shifts over 3million triangles compared to 200,000 in Code 47!!
Incidentally a mate of mine has the PC version of Gears 1, he has a dual core at 2.2ghtz, 2 gigs or ram and an 8800...Now I run Gears 1 on the 360 at 720p (1280x720) 60htz (although the game only produces 30fps not 60) and he runs it at 1600x1200 with MUCH higher texture res and he still gets 60fps showing you just how weak the console really is. It's worth remembering also that Killzone 2 on PS3 runs at 720p (basically ALL "next gen" games are 720p) and while it looks gorgeous you are looking at textures that have been compressed at a ratio of about 16 to 1, imagine how much better it would look on a decent PC setup with DX10!

Yar, its all trial and error and coding on a different architecture is ofc going to take sometime to learn what the system and and cant do in terms of shifting the GFX out. it should be interesting to see how far they can go while pushing the consoles.
A little off topic but the game that has probably the worst impact I have probably seen in terms of bad GFX output has to be Crysis, yes the effects are great, but the way they have hard coded some of the physics and GFX is so brutal towards the CPU etc. When they went over and refined it people were able to get more frames out of the expansion simply because they had gone over and refined the game.
And I think PC gaming will alway reign supreme over gaming, because tbh, most PC parts are pretty cheap atm any way. You can pick up an 8800GT for extremely cheap now and that will give you better performance on most games. As for directx 10, omg can you think of a harder render system for the GFX to run, it seems to kill most cards that try to run it, and for the little effects it does I don't think its really worth running DX 10 at times anyways. Although I do think the CUDA and NVphysics engines are good for games that support them. They seem to have a much bigger in pact on game sthan I can spot with DX 10. But then again some people swear by it... lol.

Maybe ps3 is more powerful but it doesn't shows that compared to the xbox 360.
Anyway now i'll go play the Wii.[/quote]
Lol that says it all really doesn't it.
The WII is basically 2 gamecubes soldered together in a smaller box, it's not even in the same league as PS3 or 360 yet it's still brilliant.
