Re: History Of The Void Server
I remember the long flight thru the tradelanes to get to clan planets
id say the clan system was prob the grandfather of the elete flight zone
i remember when the original spartan was admin banned cause it was just so much of an unfair advantage
i remember when you had to special dock at cutlass base and it was invisible and a larger rock style station
i remember when a titanium crusher looked and worked best with armageddons mounted on them
i rememebr when i was #2 of the vagu i loved the vagu and some of my best personal memories of the void come from my experiance with that clan a bunch of the best guys around and some of them are still on void and leaders of other clans now
i remember when vagu was online flying 30 strong
one day me and para were docking a ship with clan weapons storage on it we were hiding it on ryuku station and as i was docking nomads 5 of them came out of nowhere and killed me we lost 350 million dollars in 5 seconds we laughed we swore we laughed some more
void aigle bbb stick bbb wayferer vagu quake elessar jung chang berserker many old n*o that used to hang in tohoku
remember the tekagis to madrid trade route $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
nomad battleships at the gates were cool
remember the christmas of 2006 when we had the major mod change and the server was down for over a week and alot of us relized and appriciated freelancer so much more and rediscovered the game
and when we got back we were all happy to see one another be it your enemy or friends it didnt matter we all resumed freelancer with a new appriciative spirit and those were the times

Re: History Of The Void Server
Also one for the annuls of Void History -- Anyone remember the Clan leaders meeting with Admins to discus the clan system and clan bases? Notably absent were the Joint leaders of Shadows. Doom and Chaos Witch turned up fashionably late, unfortunately, they also brought the rest of the clan with them in a surprise attack. LOL. The fight after that was incredible, Clan leaders vs Shadows, and great fun was had by all.
Well except Strail, who was delayed in building the Mod, but it was one hell of a fight.

Re: History Of The Void Server
sounds like you had a lot of fun during those days. Wish I could go back in time and live those times.
More please? maybe something from the Void God himself?

Whos idea was it to put the Shadows planet next to ours in the system anyway?!The best raids were when Master used to lead the pirate attacks on Kress. I remember once being on my own at our base and noticed on the player list that they'd entered the system. I hid behind Kress and gave it a minute, Master thought I was docked, before flying under the planet to jump them. One of the few times I managed to get one up on Master :P The rest of them finisshed me off though lol!
And the first 'raid' I remember, on gamma. Me, Mach and Spartan were at Crete when these two came flying along with Shadows tags. We'd never seen the tag before, but when they started on Mach, me and Spartan ended up chasing them accross two systems til we finaly caught up with them. We managed to take them both out and it turned out to be the first hostile action of the war with Shadows

:-O
How can you say that!
We had the best beaches in all sirius! Fair enough there asn't much water as such, but we still had the best ice cream stands, pleanty of deck chairs, only a handful of sand snakes and the prettiest fun monkies in the whole system!
More than any lonely, travel weary space jock could ever want.
You can consider yourself off the BBB chrustmas party list. See how you like that!

Re: History Of The Void Server
The moment which stands encarved in stone in my personal memory is the fondation of the [Saints] clan, back when no one really knew who we were, and we did not system chat.
A month earlier, HK clan started to unravel, because many members left the clan (it was a multiserver clan, and most Void-Hker were not in agreement with the general strategy of that clan). Myself, I was server leader of that clan here on Void, and left the boat, too.
After some debate, the WAR team of HK (the HK team, which explicitly formed for extensive PVP) laid the basis for the newfound Saint clan, with some other great fighters (some from other clans, some indipendent) joined in.
After we had formed our ranks, it was time to make our move- the capture of sparta. I think some old farts may remember this...I especially remember one battle, where 5 or so Saints took on the entire forces all clans present could muster. We were heavily outnumbered- but as the dust settled down, sparta was ours (that's the saint perspective, of course
) . That laid the foundation for the saint custom of the "holy rock"
In aftersight, it must have caused a lot of uprear in the then-strong clans (samurai, knights just to name two of them). The successfull clans back then were based on the principle of numbers- there were some with 50+ members.
Well, this may sound a little like bragging, but I think it's safe to reveal now...our success back then didn't come out of nowhere. Starting in the WAR team, and later with anonymous charakters, we trained coordinated fighting. We knew we had potential as one-on-one PVPers- after all, that skill was what got oneself the invitation into the saints. But it was a completely different challange to form a fighting team out of this, who would watch each other's back.
This prooved that skilled fighters, with good coordination, can offset extremly numerical disadvantages. I don't blame this solely on saints...but that was about the time, the big clans membership numbers dwindeled, and instead many more smaller clans were founded. A tendency which to my knowledge carried on till today.
Well that was my little old farts view on some part of server history
Hope you liked it.
Cheers
Becker

Yep, that war was hell of a fun, except for the allmighty lag, which pwned everyone
Anyone still remember the uproar on the entire server, as XEF and Saints decided to join forces with the attackers, because they were too heavily outnumbered- and matched? Boy, did we have fun back then
Cheers
