FL movie?

Me lika Freelancer.  Me also lika movies.  i've always been interested in movies, partly because one of my friends loves how the movie buisness works.  he's already made some short films of his own.

The Point:  What if they made a Freelancer movie.  That would sound awsome.  Or, if maybe WE made it. something like  FREELANCER 2: THE VOID.  Now THAT would be awsome. No...not awsome..... Fergalicious( lol. about every girl at my school knows that song by heart)  I volunteer to be director!  And we also need actors for when the chars are inside a station or on a planet.  we could do the space combat stuff with the game using the no hud mod.

How does this sound to you?

If someone like Josh Wheedon can make a series like Firefly, and then when the TV company axes it despite its reasonable to good ratings AND then stir up a storm from the fans to the point where a movie project goes ahead and they make a gem of a movie like "Serenity" - then why not?

I have some small experience of extras work and am keen to advance my experience in that area - even though I have a full time civil service job. A friend of mine has contacts in the props and costume industry as well as mates involved in the whole "dress up" costume stuff.

You could try the approach that Cromwell films used in the early nineties. They got a whole bunch of "free" extras by asking them to invest a small amount in the film for a role as a costumed extra.  I went because there was food and it was a quiet summer! The film, was sadly "not very good" and a bit wooden despite some big names like Brian Blessed and Oliver Reed.

My one claim to fame is survivng a drink with big Ollie....scary man.

Your main problem will be copyright.  You would need to get MS to part with the movie rights and given that they are not a charity that could run expensive. Not sure where the Void name copyright lies - you might need to chat to strail about that one. So, a movie called "The Void"? It could work.

I have often wondered if they can knock out movies like "Resident Evil" and "Doom" along with every superhero that ever existed - then why not a Warhammer 40K movie or such? They have the technology to produce fantastic graphics and the opportunity for some carnage on a localised and grand scale all at the same time.

You'll need some good scriptwriters. Look to the writers of Babylon 5 and to Josh Wheedon himself as being a good mark to aim for. Watchwolf is an excellent writer and I dare say if you asked, he would be happy to help - as would I. I have never written a script before but have always had a yearining to try.

Lets face it. Spielberg started somewhere. I believe he made short war movies in 8mm with his mates in some old aircraft scrap yard.  Go for it!  8)

Just as long as you don't get those rejects who made the Wing Commnder movie. That was a real stinker, did not follow the game at all.

I'll get started on the screenplay ASAP. Maybe I can do something constructive with all that doodling I've been up to in my journal and otherwise... you know... put it all together. Been thinking about that anyway, why not convert it after the story's written?

Hmmm, i wasnt thinking of actually selling the movie.  But its starting to sound good ill tell ya that!

We might need a mod that adds better effects and/or systems,ships,equip and that kinda stuff.  I mean sure, we could build off of the original systems.  But adding new systems and stuff would definetly get more FL players to watch.  And the new effects we should probably consider because a movie is a little better with movie-like effects.

The only problem with the char's is: how are we gonna shoot multiple people together!?!?  Either your gonna have to know where each other live or someone's gotta have to be an actor with his friends while everyone else who volunteered has to sit around.  And with how far everyone lives from each other, we're probably gonna need a couple of directors for each set.

I remember getting this movie makin kit from my aunt from the christmas of '05.  My friend has a modleing tool called Maya.  Maybe this could work....

MS and Those people formerly associated with DA (the creators of Freelancer) would have to be given a share of the profits IF they agreed to allow ANY Freelancer Content to be used. Freelancer is Copyrighted.
Any such agreement would have to be in the form of a legaly binding contract.

If you remember...One particular person involved in this project was also the key person in the creation of the Game and Movie called "Wing Commander".
